I work in this mall! it's not too bad-getting a facelift from new mall mgmt. Sadly, babbages and kb toys have pulled out of the mall and the local candystore, popfizz has also gone out of business.

Bobby, your request has just been answered! www.northshoresquareonline.com

Nitek, check out the following link to the new owner of the mall. They acquired it a couple of years ago from Sizeler, and have an impressive portfolio of properties, albeit primarily in Canada. I'd imagine looking at those properties is what you could expect from this ownership group once the economic situation gets corrected. www.morguard.com

Jamie B., please stop by Chick-fil-A in the Food Court and ask for Rodney the next time you get into the mall.

Ok in response to Bobby, this mall is not that big, I've been there. These pictures just make it seem large.

Also, the babbages store hasn't becomes and EB games because it isn't an independent store. It is owned by Game Stop, a company with way to many stores in Slidell already.

Your welcome Caldor and thanks JohnE. I never thought of it the way you did JohnE about how Dillard’s acquisitions of all the south Louisiana department stores that has now left us down here with not much else to anchor our malls. I have to say that I do like Dillard’s despite the constant critizisms by a lot of people on the board, and have always shopped there for many years side by side with the other department stores they acquired like Maison Blanche. If I could not find it Maison Blanche I would go to Dillard’s, since almost every mall that had a Maison Blanche had a Dillard’s. But I know what you mean, I do miss the days of shopping at Maison Blanche, D.H. Holmes and Gouchaux’s in Baton Rouge. Belk and Kohls are building new stores in Louisiana, but all these are freestanding or in shopping centers, none have been in malls. It is not official that Dillard’s will pull out of Northshore Square, it is more a rumor than anything, but it is very likely. I don’t see that St. Tammany could support the 2 anchor Dillard’s in Northshore Square, with 2 brand new stores in both Covington and Slidell. But I recently read on nola.com that Pinnacle Nord du Lac’s opening will be delayed for maybe a whole year, and the same could be happening to Fremaux Village too, I have not seen much work done on it. I really do not see the Covington store opening until 2010 and the Fremaux Village store opening until maybe 2011 or 2012. Most of the delays is due to the economic slowdown, but I do fear that this is overbuilding shopping centers in St. Tammany, because both the new centers will probably start to empty out both Northshore Square and the Premier Centre in Mandeville.

Well done article on the mall, Jaime.
Do you remember the Belle Promenade mall in Marrero that opened in the 80's? I have been to this mall a few times but not recently, and they really do have had some unique stores. I live in Houston and make 2-4 trips a year to New Orleans and Slidell to see family. Kay Bee toys is going out of business now with the entire chain; though.
I really do not like what Dillard's has done in the New Orleans area. First the DH Holmes acquisition, then the Maison Blanche acquisition. Then they closed the Belle Prominade, and Clearview stores. After Katrina they closed The lake forest plaza location as well. Now they are going to be pulling out of the square! Too bad the selection of anchors in the southeast United States is very small and they do not get replaced very often if one brand closes.

The lack of a website is probably due to an inept marketing team and equally inept, third-rate developer.

Okay, I'll say it first. How the heck does a mall this big not have a website?

I like this mall. It's buried under new content...but it has a lot of character and is a true trip back in time.
